Current research programs

It focuses on IRASEC's axis 5 Societies, Environment and Climate Change, and as such, notably via the IRN-SustainAsia research programme (CNRS; 2018-2023) conducted with 4 other Asian UMIFRES (CEFC Hong Kong, CSH Delhi, IFP Pondicherry, IFRJ-MJF Tokyo) and regional partners (univ Chulalongkorn and UNUD Bali for Irasec) on "Inclusive growth and sustainable development in Asia : Governance and Societies Facing Environmental Challenges".

ASEAN coordinated response to disasters

She coordinated (2016 - 2019) for IRASEC an international research programme selected and funded by the Regional Climate Change Forum (RFCC; Bangkok) (and complementary funding) on "Coastal governance in the context of rapid tourism urbanization and climate change in Southeast Asia"; with AIT Thailand, UNTL Timor-Leste, and UNUD Bali Indonesia. Workshops and conferences to disseminate the results were organized in Indonesia, France, Thailand and Timor-Leste.

 

Experience

Christine Cabasset who holds a PhD in geography and planning from the University of Paris-Sorbonne IV, is an associate researcher at the Centre Asie du Sud-Est (CASE - UMR 8170, CNRS-EHESS-Inalco) and had collaborated on numerous IRASEC scientific projects before joining the team. A specialist of Indonesia and Timor-Leste, she served in the latter as an advisor to the Ministry of Education and the UNDP. She has previously taught several fields of geography (urban, Southeast Asia, population, tourism, etc.) at the university, including Sorbonne Paris IV, INALCO and Evry Val d'Essonne. A member of the French Association for Research on Southeast Asia (AFRASE), she was a member of its board (2007-2012).
