Steven PRIGENT is an anthropologist associated with the Institute for Asian Research (CNRS) and the Centre for Population and Development (IRD, Paris-Descartes University). He has been conducting surveys in rural Cambodia since 2008. He has just completed a monographic work entitled “Les Vagabonds et la Dette. L’éducation au Cambodge en milieu rural”. His current work focuses on the role played by schools - state, monastic, Chinese and private - in the social and political organisation of rural and semi-rural Cambodia.
