he international workshop organised by IRASEC Associate Researcher, Dr. Rémi Nguyen, in collaboration with Dr. Claire Tran, Director of IRASEC on the theme "A Civil Code in Myanmar : Opportunities and Challenges A comparative perspective", was held on 29 February in Rangoon. About a hundred participants came to listen to the French, Burmese and Vietnamese speakers, including representatives from 3 universities in Yangon (Prof. Dr. Khin Khin Oo from Yangon University, Prof. Dr. Mi Khin Saw from Dagon University Aung East Yangon and Dr. Thi Thi Lwin from East Yangon University) and members of the Law Graduates Association of Myanmar, including its president U Ba Tin Swe. The conference was opened by Dr. Maung Maung Thein, former Deputy Minister of Finance and lawyer, and Claire Tran. Also present were the Director of the French Institute Cyprien François, Kyaw Naing Chief of Protocol of the French Embassy in Yangon, Pascaline Griffon of the France-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the directors of the sponsors MLR Company Limited, iQ Vision and Sea Lion Group.
