Thanawat BREMARD

Thanawat Bremard holds a PhD in Social Sciences (ABIES Doctoral School, AgroParisTech, France). He is affiliated with the Center for Social Development Studies (Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok) and the mixed research unit G-EAU (Montpellier). He also works as a research consultant for the Thai Water Partnership.
During his PhD, he focused on water governance in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, examining urban riverside development policies, groundwater pumping and its effects on land subsidence, as well as flood diversion schemes and the transformation of the hydrological regime at the delta scale. Trained in qualitative research methods through his background in anthropology and sociology, Thanawat now adopts an interdisciplinary approach. His research particularly focuses on decision-making processes related to large-scale water infrastructure, public water policies, and institutional changes in Thailand’s water sector since the adoption of the Water Act in 2018.
