Within the scope of the annual conference organized by the American Association for Asian Studies , Anne Yvonne Guillou, resident researcher, will attend to the panel "Embodying Memories in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and diaspora", with the presentation " Memories of destructive events, time, and space in contemporary Cambodia ".

Embodying Memories in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and diaspora

- Four Kings and a Monk : Sculpting and Casting Political History in Chiang Mai (Taylor M. Easum, University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point).

- Relations between Chiang Mai and Bangkok : Khruba Sriwichai, Chao Kawila, and the Three Kings in the city center. Focusing on the production of the monuments from conception to installation, this paper seeks to expose the political implications of the collective memories these statues were meant to create, and at times, erase.

- Memories of destructive events, time, and space in contemporary Cambodia (Anne Yvonne Guillou, CNRS/IRASEC).

- Laos : Memory and Positionality 40 Years after 1975 (Ian G. Baird, University of Wisconsin-Madison).

- Replaying the Nation’s Past in Film : Recurring Political Violence in Thailand (Sudarat Musikawong, Siena College and Malinee Khumsupa, Chiangmai University).
