Environmental Risk Management in the Mekong Basin: a Multi-Stakeholder Approach at the Interfaces

Mae Fah Luang UniversityFrom 7 to 10 April 2025, this training course for 2nd year BA students in International Development (25 participants) will take place at the School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University. It will be organized by Mae Fah Luang University ; Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC) ; Chulalongkorn University ; French Research Institute for Development (IRD).

The training will focus on methodology through a succession of practical exercises and theoretical lectures. Introduction of case studies in the northern uplands of Thailand and Laos. The topics addressed will be : common resources management, stakeholder engagement in research, multi-stakeholder negotiation, cross-border management of environmental risks.

The training will be delivered by Krit Khanabsakdi, Sawang Meesaeng, Omsin Boonleart, and Tana Manasawasdi (Mae Fah Luang Univ.), Pongchai Dumrongrojwatthana (Chulalongkorn Univ.) and Jean-Christophe Castella (IRD). The coordination is provided by Gabriel Facal (IRASEC).
