Claire Flécher is a lecturer and researcher in sociology at Lumière Lyon 2 University and the Max Weber Center. Her research focuses on changes in work and employment, particularly when these involve forms of globalized labor (posted workers, merchant seafarers, migrant workers, etc.). The aim is to better understand the impact of these movements on work and workers, and to what extent they produce specific trajectories and professional careers. The mobility—and mobilization—of workers in these segmented workplaces also generates inequalities between workers of different status and nationalities in terms of employment conditions and access to social rights. They therefore constantly renew class, race, and gender relations, and lead to new forms of protest —both individual and collective. To understand these issues, a variety of fields are explored (catering and cleaning, the maritime transport sector, shipbuilding), as well as different statuses (undocumented workers ; workers with status or self-employed ; posted workers).
