Global Young Scientist Summit 2025

Workshop

Nicolas Berthou speaking

Inaugurated at the Stephen Riady Center of the National University of Singapore by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister, Heng Swee Keat, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2025 brought together 300 participants during the second week of January.

The event offered a rare opportunity to discover cutting-edge laboratories in Singaporean institutions, and enabled world-renowned young researchers and scientists to meet at this forum organized by the National Research Foundation. The summit brought together more than a dozen Nobel Prize winners, as well as Fields and Turing medallists. The GYSS program alternated between conferences, round tables and interactive workshops.

At this year’s event, discussions focused on four major themes : the ethics of artificial intelligence, the growing importance of interdisciplinarity in scientific research, the challenges of sustainable growth, and future prospects in medical research.

IRASEC was represented at this year’s GYSS by Clément Berthou, a doctoral student in economics at Grenoble Alpes University. He had the opportunity to present his research on the dollarization of Cambodia in a poster session, and to meet the two other CNRS representatives present : Paul Bruand and Lucile Vaschalde, both post-docs in Japan.
