Elsa Lafaye de Micheaux is a PhD in economics, lecturer at the University of Rennes 2. She was a visiting researcher at IRASEC (2014-2016) for the duration of this work on Malaysia-China relations, then affiliated to the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She studies the developmental trajectory and institutions of Malaysian capitalism in the long run after doing a thesis on the role of education in Malaysian growth (2000). She has published Malaisie, un modèle de développement souverain ? (Lyon, ENS Éditions, 2012), Capitalismes asiatiques et puissance chinoise (with P. Alary, Paris, Presses de Science Po, 2015) and (Petaling Jaya, SIRD, 2017).
