Sunny Le Galloudec is a doctoral researcher (fully funded/contractual PhD candidate) in History and Civilisations at Université Le Havre Normandie (CNRS Joint Research Unit UMR 6266 – IDEES). His dissertation, A Colonial Utopia at the “Angle of Asia” : Tourane–Đà Nẵng, from the French Concession to a Globalised Port (1858–1975), adopts a global and comparative history approach, with particular attention to the connections between Indochinese ports and the treaty ports of East Asia. In this context, he initiated and coordinated the multidisciplinary international conference From Port to World : A Global History of Indochinese Ports, held in Đà Nẵng in October 2022, and published in 2025 by the Presses universitaires de Nouvelle-Aquitaine (La Geste éditions). As President of the Association for the Study of Central Vietnam (Association pour l’étude du Centre Vietnam – AECV), he leads an interdisciplinary programme to write a History of Central Việt Nam and to contribute to the creation of a dedicated research centre in Đà Lạt, Đà Nẵng, or Huế. The author of several articles and book chapters, he is currently co-editing Of Stones and Papers : Franco-Vietnamese Memorial and Heritage Legacies (forthcoming 2026). He also serves as co-administrator of the Saigon Social Sciences Hub (SSSH), a multidisciplinary research group based in Ho Chi Minh City. A two-time recipient of a fellowship from the École française d’Extrême-Orient (2021, 2022), he has been based in Việt Nam since 2018.
