Marine LOISY

Member of the team of ANR FORSEA

Marine LOISY is an anthropologist and Associate Professor of Sociology at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers in Paris. She is a researcher at LISE (UMR3320). Her research focuses on contemporary issues in tourism, structured around three main areas : labour and employment, territorial attractiveness, and heritage-making processes. Based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted both in France and Indonesia, she examines, on the one hand, the work of tour guides and how the evolution of this occupation shapes heritage valorisation, and on the other, political and institutional initiatives related to tourism and leisure in support of territorial development.

This research builds on her doctoral work, which addressed the challenges of coexistence between residents and tourists in Paris. Funded from 2016 to 2019 by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche et de la Technologie (ANRT) and the City of Paris, her PhD was carried out at the Laboratoire d’anthropologie et d’histoire des institutions de la culture (LAHIC) at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). It led to the publication, in 2025, of Parisiens et touristes. Ethnographie d’une participation habitante au tourisme (Presses universitaires de Rennes).

Marine Loisy is a member of the Council of the Société d’ethnologie française and of the editorial board of Mondes du tourisme.
