Jérémy Jammes has attended CCSEAS (Canadian Council for Southeast Asian Studies) symposium, chaired by Prof. Dominique Caouette (CETASE), which was held from 17 to 19 October 2013 at the Carrefour des Arts and Sciences at the University of Montreal among over 120 participants from Canada, South-East Asia, United States and Europe (https://www.casa-acea.ca/?page_id=6). The topic of this year was : “Multiple encounters, shifting spaces : Southeast Asia at the crossroads”. J. Jammes notably opened the conference at the student pre-conference, with a lecture on “Conducting field research in today Vietnam”.
Then he presented his work on “Cao Dai in wartimes : fighting spirits and fight of the Spirits” at the panel on “Religions and Indochinese conflict (1946-1975) : An Interdisciplinary Approach” organized by Phi Vân Nguyen (University of Quebec in Montreal) and with Professor Christopher Goscha (University of Quebec in Montreal) as discussant.
It was also an opportunity to present his work on Vietnam to students and scholars of the Centre d’études ethniques des universités montréalaises (CEETUM) with a lecture on “Plurality and religious pluralism in Vietnam. Caodaism and its Pantheon” (October 15).
