Tom OBOKATA
Dr. Tom Obokata is a Japanese scholar, a Lecturer in Law and the Assistant Director of the Human Rights Centre of the Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland. His research focus has been on the trafficking of human beings and he has served as a Specialist Advisor on Trafficking to the UK Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights. Previously, he was an independent expert for a joint European Union/Council of Europe project on the subject. In 2006, he published a book entitled Trafficking of Human Beings From a Human Rights Perspective : Towards a Holistic Approach from Martinus Nijhoff Publishers ; he is currently working on his second monograph provisionally entitled Transnational Organised Crime in International Law (Hart Publishing 2009) and on a Textbook on International Human Rights Law (Hart Publishing, forthcoming 2010).
