Beatrice Zani est sociologue et ethnographe, chargée de recherche au Centre national de la Recherche scientifique (CNRS). Elle est rattachée au Centre d’Études français sur la Chine contemporaine (CEFC) - Taipei et à l’IRASEC depuis janvier 2026. Ses travaux portent sur la main-d’œuvre migrante transnationale dans les secteurs asiatiques de la pêche et du transport maritime (Chine, Taïwan, Singapour, Indonésie). Elle analyse les liens entre mobilités du travail et des marchandises, les recompositions du travail globalisé, ainsi que le rôle des chaînes d’approvisionnement, des économies informelles et de la digitalisation dans les transformations du capitalisme contemporain. Elle est responsable scientifique (PI) du projet ANR « FORSEA : Migrations et travail forcé dans les économies maritimes de l’Asie globalisée (2026-2028) » et coordonne, avec Hung Po-yi, le projet « ORCHID : Global Mobilities in the Digital Age (2026-2027) » (CNRS/National Taiwan University).

Ses travaux ont été notamment publiés dans Ethnic and Racial Studies, Asia Pacific Viewpoint, Globalizations, International Migration, Emotion, Space and Society et Journal of Chinese Overseas. Elle est l’autrice de Women Migrants in Southern China and in Taiwan : Mobilities, Digital Economies and Emotions (Routledge, 2022) et, avec Valentine Boucq, Émilie Garcia, Lou Herrmann et Malou Allagnat, de la bande dessinée sociologique Femmes, soutiens-gorge et pattes de poulet : Le voyage du Made in China (Presses universitaires de Montréal, 2026, à paraître).
